Many things make a house a home. In my opinion one of the most warming and inviting things about a house is a fireplace. Unfortunately not all home are equipped for fireplaces, especially wood burning fireplaces. The good news is that there are other options to having a wood burning fireplace in your home. A gas fireplace is an option when wood doesn't work for you. It is important that you know what you are looking for and what the differences are. Just going out and randomly choosing a gas fireplace may ensure that you purchased something that doesn't meet your needs.
When choosing a fireplace it is important to know whether you need a vented or non-vented gas fireplace. If you have the ability or capability to put a vent in then a vented fireplace would work for you, but if not, then you still have the ability to enjoy a gas fireplace. You simply need to invest in a vent free gas log set. The styles vary in both vented and vent free. If you go with a quality product then your wood should look realistic and should be able to fool others into thinking that you very well may have a wood burning fireplace. The log style that you choose depends on the style of your house or maybe even the wood that grows in your area.
Another good tip is to work out where you may want it. It is helpful to put it in a spot in the room where the heat will be evenly distributed. Do not pick something that is too large or will overwhelm the room. A small unit that gives off enough BTU's will heat a room very efficiently. If chosen correctly they really can save the average household a good amount of money.
Gas fireplaces whether outside or inside, small or large, Vented or vent free are a great asset to any home. They provide an ambiance and romance that nothing else can duplicate. It is good to remember this when choosing a fireplace for you and your family.
