Alkalinity is also used to measure the level of bicarbonate and carbonate ion concentration in the water. A good level of alkalinity level is 100 of 300 ppm, ppm stands for Parts Per Million. When your pond is on this level, then it should be able to provide great buffering and produce a much more stable pH.
